Australia. The earth’s largest and perhaps oldest island.
This elegant eight coin set pays tribute to some of Australia’s original inhabitants.
The feather tail glider curls up on the one cent coin.
The frill necked lizard resides on the two cent coin. The five cent coin is the home of the spiny ant eater.
The ten cent and twenty cent coins display two more unique
Australians, the lyrebird and the platypus.
Australia’s crest on the fifty cent coin features both the emu and the kangaroo. A jumping kangaroo is also depicted on the one dollar coin.
The two dollar coin completes the set with a portrait of Australia’s earliest human inhabitant, the aborigine.
The coins in this set are the work of three designers. The reverse of the two dollar coin was designed by Horst Hahne.
Reverses of all other coins were designed by Stuart Devlin.
The obverse of all coins feature the traditional portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Raphael Maklouf.
